Susan luck, nee Williams was born in Allen county, Indiana, March 3, 1838. She died in New Hartford, Iowa March 30, 1920, aged 82 years, 27 days. In 1845 she moved with her father to Ohio. In 1851 they moved to Rock Island, Ill. and in 1852 to Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
In 1854 she was married to Greenbury Luck. Judge Palmer issued the marriage license, the first issued in Butler county. They were married in the home of Mr. Clark of Clarksville by Rev. Holbrook.
To this union were born ten children; George Luck, Catherine who left this life at the age of 13 years, Mrs. Eliza Bowen, John, Mrs. Alice Ackerson, Ernest, Carrie, who died in 1913, Mrs. Lillie Bolton, Mrs. Erma Grandon and Mrs. Grace Brennan all of New Hartford except, Mrs. Alice Ackerson of Parkersburg.
In 1854 the family moved to Jimmerson Grove, now Dumont, Iowa. From that place to Cedar Falls in 1857. They settled in Beaver Grove in 1860 where they lived and raised their family. In 1901 failing health called them from their life long labor on the farm and they moved to Sinclair , where they resided for two years. In 1903 they came to New Hartford where they have since resided.
In 1858 she united with the Methodist church at Cedar Falls and afterwards with the Baptist church at New Hartford. She has always been a faithful and devoted wife and mother, loved and respected by those who knew her best. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, three sons and five daughters, two sisters and four brothers; Albert Williams of Hurtle, Wisconsin, Charley Williams of Colfax, Iowa, Sarah Knight of Des Moines, Jack Williams of New Hartford, Laura Atkinson of Marshalltown, Homer Williams of Kansas City, Mo.; forty two grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren.
During her sickness and death and with her to her end her children and brother Jack remained.
The funeral services were held in the Baptist church conducted by the pastor, H. A. Essex. The interment was made in the Beaver Grove cemetery. Six grandsons were the pallbearers.
