Vera A. Williams, 94, of Waverly, Iowa, and formerly of Shell Rock, Iowa, died Tuesday morning [May 6, 2003] at Sun Rise Guest Home in Fredericksburg, Iowa, of natural causes.

Vera was born on January 27, 1909, in Pillsbury, North Dakota, the daughter of William G. and Vinnie (Boyer) Schoeppach. She attended school in Pillsbury, North Dakota. Following school, Vera was united in marriage to Lloyd Stufflebeam and later divorced. To this marriage four children were born, Jeanette Braun, Virgil, Leslie and Maurice Stufflebeam. On February 24, 1956, Vera was united in marriage to Forrest "Shorty" Williams in Austin, Minnesota. They lived in Waverly until the early 1960's when they moved to their home in Shell Rock. Vera later moved to Waverly after Shorty died in 1980, where she resided until moving to the Sun Rise Guest Home on February 7, 2003.

Vera is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Braun of Fredericksburg, Iowa; one son, Virgil Stufflebeam and his wife Colleen of Caldwell, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Harriet Miller of Willows, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Lloyd Stufflebeam and Forrest "Shorty" Williams in 1980; two sons, Maurice Stufflebeam in 1955, Leslie Stufflebeam in 1995; a son-in-law, Myron "Mike" Braun in 1996; one granddaughter, Vicky Davis in 1996; her four brothers and three sisters.

Vera was a member of Shell Rock United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, crafts, fishing, reading, doing volunteer work and especially spending time with her friends and family.

Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Shell Rock, Iowa
