Mrs. Caroline Strand Dies; Services Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline M. (Nelson) Strand 71, who died at the home of her son, Elmer E. Strand, 826 West Fourth Street, at 2 p.m. Sunday, were held from Brown's Chapel Monday afternoon. The Rev. W. C. Howley, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiated. The body was taken to Andover, Ill., for burial.

Death, due to heart trouble, followed 11 weeks confinement to her bed.

Mrs. Strand was born at Andover, Ill., September 11, 1858, and was married there to J. Strand in 1877. For 22 years they resided in Nebraska and South Dakota, moving to a farm near New Hartford in 1908. Mr. Strand was accidentally killed January 7, 1911 at Alpha, IL and since that time Mrs. Strand had been living with various relatives and for some time in this city.

She is survived by two sons, Elmer E. Strand, Waterloo, and two daughters, Mrs. Effie Cortright, Waterloo, Route No. 8, and Mrs. Esther Elderkin, Los Angeles. One sister residing in Genesco, Ill, and one brother living in Loveland, Colo., also survive.
