Joseph Wiggins, age 88, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died September 22, 2010, at the Newell Good Samaritan Center in Newell.

Joe was born January 23, 1922, in Owatonna, Minnesota, to William and Hilda (Hassler) Wiggins. At the age of 7, he moved with his parents to Hardwick, Minnesota, and went to grade school there before completing his high school education in Luverne, Minnesota. He graduated from Luverne High School in 1940.

After graduation, he farmed with his parents in the Hardwick and Luverne areas.

He was united in marriage on January 17, 1948, to Veronica Redder. They farmed in the Sioux Falls, South Dakota, area before moving to Linn Grove, Iowa, and then to the Storm Lake area. They were blessed with 5 children.

Joe was an active member of Farm Bureau and helped with area 4-H activities. His passion for farming included raising sheep and cattle.

Grateful to have shared his life are his wife of 61 years, Veronica, his son Michael (Joyce) Wiggins, of Hawarden, Iowa, his daughters Patricia (Thom) Feally of Coral Springs, Florida, Ann (Todd) Jamieson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Teresa (John) Guthmann of St. Paul, Minnesota. He is survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Other survivors include brothers, Fred (Gloria) and James (Lorraine) Wiggins, sister Martha Wiggins, and brother-in-law, Dean Thul, as well as nieces, nephews, and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan in 1967, his grandson, Peter, his sister, Mary Wiggins Thul, and his parents

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. September 25, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Iowa
Vigil Service: 7:00 p.m. September 24, 2010, at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa
Interment: September 25, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa
