Eldora H. Ripke - Aug. 9, 1925 - Dec. 2, 2007

Eldora Ripke, age 82, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Sunday, December 2, 2007, at her home.

Eldora was born August 9, 1925, in Storm Lake, the daughter of William and Lea (Boettcher) Ripke. She was baptized as an infant on August 14, 1925, and confirmed her faith as a youth on April 2, 1939, at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. She attended Zion Lutheran School before graduating from Newell High School in 1943. Eldora continued her education at Iowa Lutheran Nursing School in Sioux City, Iowa, training extensively as a surgical nurse before graduating in 1949. She worked as a nurse her entire life, serving in the Minneapolis VA Hospital, the Omaha VA Hospital and the VA Hospital in San Diego, California. Eldora retired in 1982 and returned to Storm Lake to live.

Eldora was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. She enjoyed music very much, especially classical music. Eldora was active in the German Choir during the years she lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She had a great appreciation for antiques. To relax, Eldora liked to work in her garden, and she enjoyed traveling, especially when she could drive her car. She will be remembered by her family as a dear sister and treasured aunt, and she will be missed deeply by those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Edna (Marvin) Grote of Storm Lake, her sister-in-law, Lorene Ripke of Albert City, Iowa; nephew Larry (Janene) Grote; nieces LeAnn Ripke, Needra Ripke, Brenda Bayliss, and Evonne (Darrell) Veencamp; extended family and many friends.

Eldora was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Martin and Herbert; one sister, Norma; and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2007, at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call on Thursday, December 6, 2007, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present.
