Agnes M. Beauchemin - Dec. 21, 1918 - Dec. 1, 2007

Agnes M. Beauchemin, age 88, of Monticello, Minnesota, and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Saturday, December 1, 2007, in Champlin, Minnesota.

Agnes Mary Kennedy was born December 21, 1918, in Early, Iowa, the daughter of Michael and Emma (Schmitt) Kennedy. She was baptized as an infant in the Catholic faith at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake and later confirmed her faith as a youth in the same parish. She attended classes at St. Mary’s School in Storm Lake from grade school until she graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1935.

Following her high school graduation, Agnes attended beauty school. Then she worked at Turner Beauty Shop in Storm Lake for several years before moving to Sioux City to work where she met and fell in love with a handsome young man by the name of Paul Beauchemin.

On April 29, 1947, Agnes and Paul were married. The couple was blessed with seven children: Gayle, Phil, Greg, Steve, Elyse, Terry and Raymond.

Agnes kept a warm and comfortable home for her family as she and Paul raised their children in Storm Lake. Later on, she worked as a cashier at Hy-Vee in Storm Lake until her retirement in 1986.

Agnes was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake until she moved to Monticello, Minnesota, in 1995 to be near her children. She then became a member of St. Henry’s parish in Monticello. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting and in later years, she especially enjoyed her role as grandmother and great-grandmother. A loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Agnes will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Phil (Lisa) Beauchemin of Phoenix, Arizona, and Greg Beauchemin of Denver, Colorado; her daughters: Gayle Fortune of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; Elyse (Donny) Farris of Champlin, Minnesota, and Terry (Greg) Currie of Monticello, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; extended family and a host of friends.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Beauchemin; her two sons, Steve and Raymond; and six brothers: Gerald, Cecil, Charles, Mark, Lawrence and Leroy.

Funeral mass for Mrs. Beauchemin will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present from 6-8:00 p.m. A Legion of Mary Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service held at 7:00 p.m., both at the funeral home during visitation hours.

May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
