R. Keith Sundblad - July 29, 1934 - Aug. 26, 2007

Robert Keith Sundblad, age 73, of Albert City, Iowa, died Sunday, August 26, 2007, at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Keith Sundblad, the son of Karl and Julia (Carlson) Sundblad was born on a farm near Marathon, Iowa, on July 29, 1934. He received his education at Albert City, graduating from the Albert City High School in 1952.

He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Altenhoff on February 8, 1957, at Fort Pierce, Florida. Their union was blessed with four sons: Alan, Mick, Gary, and Ken. Following their wedding, Keith and Mary Ann lived at Cocoa Beach, Florida, for a few months and then moved to northwest Iowa where they were engaged in farming in the Marathon and Albert City areas throughout their married life. They moved into the town of Albert City in 1996. Even though Keith retired from farming at age 62, he continued to assist with harvesting and other farm work as long as his health permitted.

Keith was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Albert City where he had served as an usher and trustee for many years. He was also one of the founders of the Albert City Threshermen’s Association and remained active in that organization. He also made belts and did other leather crafts along with making harnesses. Keith will also be remembered for his sense of humor and for the draft horses that he raised with great care. Family was very important to Keith and his grandchildren were the highlight of his life.

Among those who will always cherish Keith’s memory are his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann, of Albert City, Iowa; his children: Alan of Albert City, Mick and Jill of Albert City, Gary and Leah of Albert City, and Ken and Linette of Fairmont, Minnesota; his beloved grandchildren: Brady, Jordan, David, Brittany, Kylie, Joshua, Suzanne, Ryan, Anna, and Sara; his brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Joan Sundblad of Urbandale, Iowa; his sister, Joanne Sundblad of San Diego, California; other relatives, and many friends.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at 10:30 AM at the Evangelical Free Church in Albert City, Iowa. Burial will be in the Fairfield Township Cemetery at Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of arrangements.

Friends may call on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City where the family will be present.
