Norman H. Gnewuch - Jan. 29, 1917 - Dec. 7, 2009

Norman H. Gnewuch, age 92, of Albert City, Iowa, died on Monday, December 7, 2009, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center at Storm Lake, Iowa.

Norman Hugo Gnewuch, the son of Hugo and Minnie (Luellman) Gnewuch, was born in Bloomfield, Montana, on January 29, 1917. He was baptized on July 7, 1918, at the First Trinity Lutheran Church. Norman was confirmed in his faith at that church on March 20, 1932.

Norman was united in marriage to Mildred Lange on September 25, 1938, at the Zion Lutheran Church of rural Storm Lake, Iowa. This couple was blessed with five children: Ardis, Nolan, Iris, Avis, and Loren. Norman and Mildred were engaged in farming in the Newell and Albert City areas until their retirement in 1983. Norman loved farming and gave all the glory to God for the opportunities he enjoyed throughout his lifetime. Norman and Mildred resided in Storm Lake from 1983 until 2006 when they returned to Albert City to make their home at Countryside Living.

Norman will be remembered as a very kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed. He was a member of the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City.

Those who are grateful for having shared in Norman’s life include his children: Ardis and John Radintz of Maple Grove, Minnesota; Nolan and Darlene Gnewuch of Appleton, Wisconsin; Iris and Gerry Geik of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Avis Gnewuch of Corvallis, Oregon; and Loren and Susan Gnewuch of Albert City, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two sisters: Clara Gutz of Osmond, Nebraska and Charlotte Hirsh of Newell, Iowa; other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred on March 16, 2009; and two sisters: Cora and Mary.
