Allen W. Harding, 72, of Marion, and formerly of Rembrandt, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion, by Pastor Dennis Johnson. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion. Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at Little Sioux Valley Cemetery in Rembrandt.

Survivors include his wife, Deanna; children, Gregg (Dawn) Harding of Gulf Port, Miss., Kenneth (Denise) Harding of Topeka, Kan., and Michael Harding of Ely; grandchildren, Josh (Kendra), Bryan, Brad, Kyle, and Nichole; great-grandchild, Layla; and brother, David (Margaret) Harding of Bemidji, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Carol Wirick.

Allen was born Dec. 18, 1936, in Iowa City, to Wallace and Julia (Cooper) Harding. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. Allen married Deanna Holmes on Oct. 1, 1960, in Storm Lake. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion. Allen enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid Hawkeye and Yankee fan.
