Esther Louise Lamb
March 24, 1921 - February 18, 2017

Esther Louise Lamb, age 95, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

A daughter of Henry and Amanda (Hoberman) Gerke, Esther Louise Wilhelmina was born on March 24, 1921, in rural Storm Lake, Iowa. Baptized as an infant at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake and confirmed there in 1935, she received her education through the eighth grade at Zion Lutheran Parochial School. After graduating, she worked for neighbors doing housework.

On February 27, 1949, Esther married Raymond Stieghorst. Subsequently, they were blessed with three children: Diane, Donna, and Darlene. Esther had been a stay-at-home mom before Ray’s death, but after he passed away on September 15, 1972, she went back to cleaning houses. On May 24, 1980, she married Robert Lamb. He, however, passed away on June 15, 2003. Throughout her life, Esther was, always, willing to help others. After her children left home, she continued to work as a housekeeper for neighbors and friends. A faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, she attended services on a regular basis. Esther enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and quilting. Most of all, however, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Undoubtedly, she will be, deeply, missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Diane Christiansen, of Harrisburg, South Dakota, Donna (David) Dose, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Darlene (Blaine) Perry, of Aurelia, Iowa; her grandchildren: Daniel Christiansen; Deborah (Adam) Passick, and their children, Riley and Tegan; Benjamin (Rebecca) Dose, and their children: Jonathan, Timothy, Lydia, and Hannah; Joshua (Jennifer) Dose, and their children: Kaytlynn, David, Carson, and Trinity; Matthew (Stephanie) Dose, and their children, Emberlyn and Brecken; Amanda (Justin) Coffey; Adam (Rainie) Perry, and their children, Hunter and Piper; Brooke (Regis) Michelena, and their daughter, Hattie; Andrew (Elizabeth) Perry, and their daughter, Danika; her brother-in-law, Clifford (Doris) Schmidt, of Storm Lake; and Robert Lamb’s children: Nancy Mayo, William Lamb, and Andy Lamb and their families; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Raymond Stieghorst and Robert Lamb; her son-in-law, Gary Christiansen; her great grandson, Noah Dose; her siblings: Clarence, Donald, Ewaldt (Alice Miles), Raymond, and Wilbert Gerke; Elda (Herbert) Johnson; and Arlene (William) Speers Schmid.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Monday, February 20, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing the arrangements.
