December 6, 1936 - February 15, 2017

Carl R. Lewis, age 80, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on February 15, 2017, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

One of six children of Victor and Marie (Walters) Lewis, Carl Raymond was born on December 6, 1936, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, where he grew up. In 1953, he joined the United States Army. In 1964, he married Ginny Richardson of Storm Lake. Together, they raised three daughters: Sabrina, Shelly, and Sandra.

Carl operated Carl’s Hamburgers in Storm Lake for seven years. Then, he started his own janitorial service which he operated for several years. A faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, he attended services on a regular basis.

Carl and Ginny both loved camping and covered many miles in their motorhome. Along the way, they made many life-long friends. Carl, also, enjoyed woodworking and made many beautiful items.

Carl is survived by his wife, Ginny, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his daughters: Sabrina (Kenny) Moore, Shelly (fiancé, Brian) Tanner, and Sandy (Don) Kelley; his grandchildren: Heather Lewis (fiancé, Tim), Danielle Lewis, Brandon Taumoepeau, Michelle (Adam) Pigott, Mandy (Joe) Bush, Jacqueline (Jason) Miller, Joe (Freedom) Bunkers, Jessica and Colin Kelley, and Kiah Moore; twenty great grandchildren; his sisters, Rose Blair and Nancy Whybrew; his sisters-in-law, Billie Melohn and Jeanne Sievers; and his brother-in-law, Lowell Merry; as well as by many extended family members and friends.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Clara; his brothers, Billy and Larry; and his son-in-law Brian Tanner.

Memorial services will be held Monday, February 20, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday, February 19, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
