Stella V. Oleson
October 11, 1922 - January 29, 2017

Stella Viola Morrison Oleson, age 94, of Hawarden, Iowa, and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017, in Hawarden.

A daughter of Ben and Thelma (Belt) Morrison, Stella was born on October 11, 1922, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. On November 1, 1941, she married Kenneth Oleson. To their union, five children were born. A member of the Lakeside Presbyterian Church of Storm Lake, and a life time member in the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Stella, also, belonged to the Amvets Auxiliary, Post 66.

In her younger years, Stella babysat for many children in Storm Lake. She, also, worked at Aalfs Manufacturing and as the assistant cook at the Senior Center, a job which she truly enjoyed. She loved decorating the Senior Center for various holidays as she did in her own home. Most of all, however, she, really, enjoyed spending time with her family. The whole family, always, looked forward to having her homemade cinnamon rolls, one of her specialties. In addition, she had a passion for flower gardening, a delightful way for her to pass the time. Inevitably, she had flowers blooming all spring, summer, and fall.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, June, of Sioux City, Iowa; her son-in-law, Darrell Eddie, of Mesa, Arizona; her sons, Rodney, of Hawarden, Iowa, and Eugene, of New York, New York; her daughter, Delores (Oleson) Born, and her son-in-law, Randy Born, of Mankato, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren; her brothers: Raymond and Steve, of South Dakota.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her daughter, Betty Eddie; her sisters, Mary, Shirley and Evie; her parents, Ben and Thelma Morrison; her parents-in-law, Chris and Dena Oleson; and her special companion Dean Koeppe.

Stella will, truly, be missed.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 3, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place Thursday, February 2, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
