Marion M. Morgan
January 16, 1924 - January 13, 2017

Marion Mae Morgan was born on January 16, 1924, to Harry and Carol (Hoke) Harson in Rowan, Iowa. She and her eight siblings grew up on farms near Alexander and Emmetsburg. The family enjoyed so many good times on the farm as well as some tough times throughout the Great Depression. After graduating from Emmetsburg High School in 1941, she worked at the Emmetsburg Bank until 1946 when she married Cecil Morgan, the love of her life. They began their forty-year farming career in Rodman, later moving to Webb before settling near Rembrandt. They retired in 1987. After moving into Storm Lake, they enjoyed many years interacting with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a with very special group of neighbors.

Cecil and Marion were blessed with six children: James, Charles, Kenneth, Judy, Rodney, and Kathy. In her spare time, Marion enjoyed sewing, embroidering, reading, and baking. For many, many years, the family enjoyed a homemade pie every Sunday morning (with Dad getting the first slice piping hot right out of the oven).

A wonderful caregiver and comforter, Marion was, always, willing to help family, friends, neighbors or whoever might have needed a helping hand or compassionate ear. The care she provided to Cecil during the last several years of their life together revealed the true nature of the love within their marriage and the strength of her devotion.

Marion passed away on January 13, 2017, at the age of 92. Those who will cherish her memory include her children: Chuck, of Mondovi, Wisconsin, Ken, of Cherokee, Iowa, Judy Freeman, of Boone, Iowa, Rod (Laura), of Rembrandt, Iowa, and Kathy Morgan, of Cody, Wyoming; her grandchildren: Brad (Shawna), of Indianola, Iowa, Josh Morgan, of Portage, Wisconsin, Jerry (Jen) Morgan, of Egan, Minnesota, Mary (Chris) Larison, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Amy Morgan, of Rembrandt, Iowa; her great-grandchildren: Brady and Hunter Freeman; Owen Larison; and Clare and Emma Morgan; and her sisters: Carol Douglas, of Spencer, Iowa, Janice Christensen, of Alta, Iowa, and Lowene Heaverlo, of Carter Lake, Iowa; and her brother, Don (Virginia) Harson, of Hartley, Iowa; as well as numerous in-laws; nieces; nephews; and friends.

Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; her son, James; her granddaughter, Kristi Freeman; her daughter-in-law, Rita; her siblings/in-laws: Bob and Ruth Harson; Harold and Bonnie Harson; Berneta and Vernon Dunham; Nancy and Al Glackin; Jim Heaverlo; Clifford Christensen; and Lyle Douglas; and her siblings, James Harson and Stanley Harson (lost in infancy).
