Marvin Leroy Molitor
March 29, 1927 - January 29, 2017

Marvin Leroy Molitor, age 89, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Marvin Leroy Molitor, a son of John and Christina (Lambertz) Molitor, was born on March 29, 1927, in Pocahontas, Iowa. Baptized, confirmed, and having received his first communion in the Catholic Church, he attended school in Lake City, Iowa, where he graduated. Next, he enlisted in the United States Navy on March 27, 1945, and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on January 22, 1948. Next, Marvin married Genese Schwinn. Together, they were blessed with one son, Michael Joseph Molitor, before they divorced.

Marvin worked for Iowa Public Service as an electrical technician for forty-one years before retiring. Elected president of the senior center, he, also, belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the AMVETS. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors. Indeed, he, especially, loved fishing. In addition, he loved ballroom dancing. Whenever someone asked him how he was doing, he would reply, “Simply Marvelous,” a response that earned him the nickname, Marvelous Marv. Marvin loved his family and treasured the time he could spend with them. He will be, deeply, missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Michael (Jamey) Molitor, of Spokane Valley, Washington; his grandchildren, Cristy, Jason, and Lindsey; his great grandchildren, Alexis and Nelson; and his brothers, Allen and Alvin Molitor; as well as extended family members and friends. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, John and Christina Molitor; and his siblings: Viola, Jon, and Larry.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, February 3, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place for one hour before the service at the church. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing the arrangements.
