Raymond M. Hale
February 19, 1930 - January 7, 2017

Raymond M. Hale, age 86, of Rembrandt, Iowa, died on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the Pleasant View Home in Albert City.

A son of Fred and Beulah (LaMar) Hale, Raymond Morgan Hale was born on February 19, 1930, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Confirmed at the Methodist Church in Peterson, he attended high school in Peterson before joining the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He served his country for six years in the Army and for fourteen years in the Air Force. On August 25, 1956, Ray married Wilma Jean Stange at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rembrandt. Subsequently, they were blessed with six children: Teresa, Jeanne, Michael, Lisa, Kim, and Angie. Currently a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rembrandt, he, also, belonged to the Sioux Rapids American Legion.

Ray’s hobbies included attending the Alta races, buying lottery tickets, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Nonetheless, he, especially, loved sitting behind the wheel of any semi-truck. Everyone who knew Ray would say he loved life, and he, especially, enjoyed his many grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Teresa Lammers, of Rembrandt, Iowa, Jeanne Iehl, of Rembrandt, Iowa, Mike (Elaine) Hale, of Casa Grande, Arizona, Lisa (Everett) Huffer, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Kim (Eddie) Farris, of Rembrandt, Iowa, and Angie (Charlie) Grienke, of Alta, Iowa; his grandchildren: Justin Lammers, Jill Henningsen, (friend, Jeff Kies), Brian (Shayla) Iehl, Casey Iehl (friend, Molly Mills), John Hale (friend, Andrea Nail), Jessica (Tony) Loehr, Matthew Huffer, Melissa Huffer (friend, Vennie Ashford), Courtney Farris (friend, Damian Morton), Zachary Farris, and Cody Grienke; his great grandchildren: Antonio, Sofia, and Emelio Gonzalez; Drayke Kies; Jase and McKenna Iehl; Willow Morton; and Myah Ashford; his brothers: Billy Hale, of Spencer, Iowa, and Harrison Hale, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; his sisters: Marlene (Don) Fassler, of Watertown, South Dakota, Germaine Jessen, of Gillett Grove, Iowa, Rachel (John) Krenk, of Ida Grove, Iowa; and his close friend, Shirley Plagman; as ell as extended family members and friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilma Jean; his son-in-law, Kevin Iehl; his brothers: Clyde and Bobby Hale; and his sisters-in-law, Phyllis and Marge Hale.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 13, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rembrandt. Burial will follow in the Little Sioux Valley Cemetery in Rembrandt with military rites by the Sioux Rapids American Legion Post #394. Visitation will take place Thursday, January 12, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing the arrangements.
