Jean A. Behm
July 4, 1928 - November 27, 2016

Jean A. Behm, age 88, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Sunday, November 27, 2016, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

A daughter of Clarence and Mary Elizabeth (Forde) McCrickard, Jean Ann was born on July 4, 1928, near Missouri Valley, Iowa. She attended school in Missouri Valley, graduating from high school in 1946. Next, she began teaching country school. On September 5, 1949, she married Donald Behm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Missouri Valley. Subsequently, they were blessed with five children: Pamela, Rod, Jeff, Tracy, and Mike.

A lifelong, devoted Catholic and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Jean participated in the Guild, Catholic Daughters of America, the prayer lines, and on the cleaning committees.

Jean took pride in keeping a clean, tidy home. She enjoyed tending her flowers and riding her bicycle. Many knew her as a kind neighbor always willing to care for those in need. She loved getting together with her friends for coffee and rolls. Most of all, however, faith and family always came first for her, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Pamela (Ted Hesselguesser) Sutton, of Omaha, Nebraska, Rod (Judy) Behm, of Carroll, Iowa, Jeff (Julia) Behm, of Alta, Iowa, Tracy (Ed) Bredvick, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Mike (Norma) Behm, also of Storm Lake, Iowa; her grandchildren: Jennifer, Mark, Matt (Julie Palmer), Mike (Ashley), Nick, Reverend Patrick, and Tom Behm; Nicole and Robyn Bredvick; Mollie (Rick) Cornell; and Heather (Jeramie) Hinote; ten great grandchildren; and her sisters: Mary Vallier, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Marjorie Burkhead, of Boone, Iowa; as well as extended family members and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don, on November 17, 2015; and her brother-in-law, Gene Vallier.

A Funeral Mass will be offered Friday, December 2, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing the arrangements.
