Lavon “Bonnie” O. Watts, age 100, of Alta, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at the Sunset Knoll Care and Rehab Center of Aurelia.

Lavon “Bonnie” O. Blake, a daughter of James and Florence (Long) Blake, was born on August 1, 1916, in Storm Lake, Iowa. She received her education at Fairview School in rural Alta, graduating in 1935. Then, she worked as a housekeeper before marrying Guy B. Watts on March 7, 1937, in Sac City at the Methodist Parsonage. This union was blessed with three sons, Ralph, James, and Burdette “Bud”. She was a member of the Alta United Methodist Church.

Bonnie found pleasure in several activities. She loved music, especially Lawrence Welk, Guy Lombardo, and Glen Miller. Moreover, she so liked gardening that she raised vegetables for canning and flowers for her own pleasure. She was a charter member of the SLI Club. In addition, she enjoyed attending school activities for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she, also, liked family reunions in Illinois as well as family picnics with her own family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Ralph (Diane) Watts, of Aurelia, James (Connie) Watts, of Storm Lake, and Bud (Janette) Watts, of Spencer; her grandchildren, Cheryl (David) Arnts, Misty (Joe) Daum, Michelle Kuiper (Stuart) Carlson, Charlotte (Chris) Quinney, Dawn (Clark) Voge, and Brian (Jessica), Clinton, Cory (Kristen), and Marc Watts; her great-grandchildren, Rachael, Matthew, Ethan, Jacob, and Emily Arnts; Allison and Madison Daum; Ashley, Adam, Melanie (fiancée, Todd Bauer), and Amber Gehrts; Cade Kuiper; Dale and Travis Tibbetts; Abbie, Allison, and Brooklynn Watts; her step-great-grandchildren, Cody and Austin Carlson; Logan and Chelsea Quinney; and Dawson and Connor Voge; her brother, Oscar Blake, of Florida; her sister, Coraleen Hale, of Washington; and her sister-in-law, Ada Blake, of Illinois; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Guy Watts; her brothers, Harold, Wayne, and Troy; her brother-in-law, Bill Hale; her sister-in-law, Clara Blake; her great-granddaughter, Tatum Tibbetts; and her grandson-in-law, Tim Kuiper.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016, at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church of Alta with the Pastor Kim A. Dewey officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery of Alta. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 16, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the church.
