Keith Mohror
September 2, 1931 - October 25, 2016

Emmett Keith Mohror, of Peterson, Iowa, entered heaven on October 25, 2016, at the age of 85. Jane Elaine (Covey) Mohror, his wife of forty-nine years, preceded him. They married June 14, 1959.

Born into God’s world on September 2, 1931, Keith was the son of Emmett G. and Inna (Tigges) Mohror, who farmed just south west of Peterson. In 1949, he graduated from the Brooke High School and joined the United States Marine Corp. A proud Marine, he, subsequently, served three years in Korea before returning to Iowa to farm. After coming home, Keith played baseball with town teams, and family legend says he once pitched a no hitter. In addition, he was involved in the local bowling series.

Eventually, the Mohror family sold the farm, and Keith held several jobs as he and his growing family moved east across Iowa. He had, always, wanted to live near the Mississippi River, and his journey took him to Postville, Iowa.

There, he discovered his true passion: the outdoors. The Mohror family grew up learning all about its wonders and its treasures. To this day, our family enjoys the outdoors because of his and our mom's love of nature.

Keith loved the St. Louis Cardinals, hound dogs, hunting, fishing, and his family. He had the gift of gab, perhaps his greatest gift, although some may have thought otherwise. Our dad, however, could talk to anyone for hours, and we mean anyone, anytime, anywhere.

Keith is survived by his only sister, Betty Franken; his children, Peter (Kathy), Kirk (Lynette), Eric, Adam (Beth), Andrew (Natasha) and Susan (Rich); eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

As an ode to our dad, some of us will remember singing over and over again on family drives, "I see the moon, the moon sees me, underneath the bamboo tree". We all will miss you, dad.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Church in rural Peterson, Iowa. Burial will follow with military rites in the church cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing the arrangements.
