Norman Eastman, age 79, of Spencer, Iowa, formerly of Rembrandt, Iowa, died on Friday, October 14, 2016, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer.

Norman Earl Eastman, a son of Earl and Arlyne (Williamson) Eastman, was born in Storm Lake, Iowa, on October 13, 1937. Baptized at the Rembrandt United Methodist Church, he spent his youth in Rembrandt and graduated from Rembrandt High School. He, faithfully, served his country in the United States Army from July 11, 1960 until his honorable discharge on June 12, 1962.

Following his military service, Norm returned to Rembrandt and devoted his entire life to farming even up until the time of his death. In addition, he, also, served on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Rembrandt. In his leisure time, he loved fishing and golfing. He enjoyed life to the fullest, and most of all, he treasured the times he could spend with his family and friends.

Those who will, always, celebrate and cherish Norm’s life include his sisters: Mary (Dale) Packard, of Lakeside, Arizona, and Sandy (Tom) Mastaw, of South Range, Wisconsin; his nephews and nieces: David and Fred Mastaw, Shelly Heller, and Scott and Steve Fredricks; his great niece, Erica Heller; and his [sic] granddaughter, Jasmine Milligan, and her two children, Bostyn Milligan and Hartley Haynes; as well as other extended family members and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carol.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rembrandt. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa. Visitation will take place Tuesday, October 18, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is overseeing the arrangements.
