Julia M. Adams, age 95, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Friday, November 11, 2016, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

A daughter of Louis R. and Mary L. (White) White, Julia M. White was born on April 7, 1921, in Marathon, Iowa.

Early in her life, her family moved to the Varina, Iowa, vicinity, and then to southwest of Pocahontas where she attended elementary school. Through the eleventh grade, however, Julia attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School in Fonda before transferring to Fonda High School where she graduated.

On June 12, 1941, Julia married Walter D. Gibbins at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda. Subsequently, they were blessed with twelve children. The family lived on a farm near Early before moving to the Nemaha area. Julia worked as an Avon representative for twenty years and acted as postmaster in Nemaha for three years.

Walter passed away on June 16, 1960. Eight years later, on November 22, 1968, Julia married Joseph Feilmeier. They resided on a farm near Early until May of 1970 when they moved into Storm Lake. She, then, purchased and operated the “Mode-O-Day” store in Storm Lake for eight years. In 1980, Joseph passed away. On October 23, 1982, she married Gerald (Skeet) Adams. He died on March 23, 1998.

A member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake, Julia served on St. Mary’s Guild, Our Lady’s Rosary Makers Guild, and as president of the Legion of Mary. In Early, Julia had joined the Catholic Daughters of America.

Julia enjoyed crafts, sewing, and needle work. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Walter “Doug” (Jeanne) Gibbins, of Omaha, Nebraska, Patricia (Joe) Bandy, of Kansas City, Kansas, Philip (Ruth) Gibbins, of Belle Plain, Iowa, Ronald (Myra) Gibbins, of Arlington, Texas, Marlene (Ron) Telschaw, of Madrid, Iowa, Joan (Larry) Hatch, of Olathe, Kansas, Michael (Sue) Gibbins, also of Olathe, Kansas, Marion (Sue) Gibbins, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Rosemary (Mickey) Fitchett, of Nemaha, Iowa, and Anthony (Stacy) Gibbins, of Fort Dodge, Iowa; twenty-five grandchildren and many great grandchildren; her brothers: Louis (Loretta) White, of West Des Moines, Iowa, Father Paul White, of Omaha, Nebraska; Joseph’s children and their families; and Gerald’s children and their families; as well as extended family members and friends.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents; her three husbands: Walter Gibbins, Joseph Feilmeier, Gerald “Skeet” Adams; her daughters: Elaine Gibbins and Sandy Ramthun; her grandson, Alex William Gibbins; her daughter-in-law, Leona Gibbins; her sisters, Louise Girard and Mary Brown; and her brothers, Lawrence and Vincent White.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Early. Visitation will take place Tuesday, November 15, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
