Jan Marie Waterman went to live with the angels on September 1, 2016, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Jan was born in Storm Lake on May 12, 1952, to the late Donald and Leah Waterman of Newell, Iowa. She graduated from Newell-Providence High School in 1970 and lived in Elkhorn, Nebraska, for the last thirty-five years.

She is survived by her brothers, Curtis Waterman, of Cedar Rapids, and Steven (Tari) Waterman, of Brookings, South Dakota; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews; as well as by extended family members, friends, and Rudy and Lucy, her much-loved pets. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister-in-law, Mary (Curtis); her friends, John Sawin and Gretchen; and her beloved pets, Greta and Mitzi.

Funeral services will be held for Jan Marie Waterman, 64, of Elkhorn, Nebraska, (formerly of Newell, Iowa) at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 310 E 3rd Street, Newell, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 24th. A Celebration of Jan's Life will be held during the service. If you wish, you may share a short story and/or a memento (letter, picture, etc.). Burial at the Newell Cemetery will follow the services immediately and then a luncheon will be served at the church.
