July 6, 1953 - April 10, 2015

Mark J. Snedeker, age 61, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Friday, April 10, 2015, at his home in Storm Lake.

A son of Mark H. and Mary J. (Russell) Snedeker, Mark was born on July 6, 1953, in Hokkaido, Japan. Having grown up in Storm Lake, he graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1971. Next, he joined the United States Navy. Serving his country during Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, he advanced to the rank of Fire Controlman Command Master Chief Surface Warfare during his thirty-one years of service. He was honorably discharged on September 30, 2002. On December 27, 2003, Mark married Carol Daebler in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Very active in his community, Mark served on the board of the Storm Lake Parade of Flags. He, also, joined the Alta VFW Post #6172, the American Legion Post #115, and the Navy Chiefs Association.

A faithful member of All Saints Episcopal Church, Mark was currently serving his congregation as the Junior Warden.

In his spare time, Mark enjoyed adding to his Snoopy collection, watching NASCAR races, and woodworking. Most of all, however, Mark loved spending time with his family and friends. Remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend to many, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Carol Snedeker, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his daughter, Amanda (Grey) Sibley, and their children, Greyson and Brayden, of Cape Cod, Massachusetts; his son, Jeremy Rippel, of Storm Lake, Iowa; and his siblings: Jane (Bob) Owen, Sharon Snedeker, Tom (Nancy) Snedeker, and Tammy (Jay) Sassman; as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends. Mark was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 13, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake with full military rites. Visitation will take place Sunday, April 12, 2015, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
