Velma Sylvia Schomburg
November 3, 1922 - March 21, 2015

Velma was born on November 3, 1922, in Douglas Township, Clay County, Iowa, to Waldo and Olga Walstrom Lundt. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Linn Grove High School. After attending Morningside College, she worked as a secretary at an Air Base in Ogden, Utah. In October of 1946, she married Dale Berge. They, subsequently, lived on a farm east of Webb, Iowa, for several years. Then in 1949, they moved to a farm north of Linn Grove, Iowa, and in June of 1951, they were blessed with a daughter, Ann. While they were living on several farms in that area for the next twenty-five years, Velma, also, worked a secretary at the family grain elevator in Greenville, Iowa, for nineteen of those years.

Velma married William Schomburg in April of 1975. After moving from Spencer, Iowa, they made their home in West Okoboji Harbor. She lived there for over thirty-three years and then with her brother in Sioux Rapids for several more years. Next, she lived with her daughter and granddaughter in the Omaha, Nebraska, area. In April 2014, Velma entered Hill Top Mable Rose Care Center in Bellevue, Nebraska. A loving mother and grandmother as well as exceptional cook, she would, always, give all of herself for her family.

Those left to cherish Velma's memory include her daughter, Ann Aldrich, of Glenwood, Iowa; her granddaughter, Allison (Marvin) Aldabute, of Winter Garden, Florida; her grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, Andrew, and Amelia; her brother, Ralph Lundt, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; three nephews, Max, John, and Jay Lundt; and two nieces, Judy Hoogeveen and Joan Holles; as well as cousins and friends.

Preceding Velma in death were her parents; both of her husbands; her son-in-law, David Aldrich; her brother, Wilmer Lundt; her sister-in-law, Joyce Lundt; and her niece, Jane Lundt.
