Debra Wischmeyer, age 57, of Webb, Iowa, died on March 11, 2015, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Debra Ann Kleaveland, a daughter of Rodney and Lydia Kleaveland, was born on March 26, 1957, in Sioux City, Iowa. She grew up in Sioux Rapids, graduating from Sioux Rapids High School in 1975. She, then, went on to continue her education at Iowa State University and Western Iowa Tech where she earned a nursing degree. She, later, enrolled at Iowa Lakes Community College. On August 16, 1980, she married Jim Wischmeyer in Sioux Rapids. Subsequently, they were blessed with two daughters, Beth and Katie.

An avid Minnesota Vikings fan, Deb loved to spend Sunday afternoons with friends cheering on the team. She enjoyed spending time outside golfing with her husband, Jim, and canoeing in her younger days. In addition, she loved to cook and try new dishes, and she, especially, enjoyed her Saturdays out with her daughters. Most of all, however, Deb loved her role as a mother and grandmother, and she cherished her time with both her daughters and her grandson. During the last several years, she spent her time primarily babysitting her grandson, Lukas. She loved watching him get off the bus and enjoyed seeing him come in for snacks. She had long talks with him about his day at school and what he had learned. Lukas was very special to her. She will be remembered as loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on always.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jim Wischmeyer, of Webb, Iowa; her children: Beth Wischmeyer, of Webb, Iowa, (boyfriend, Dan Fraser, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota); Katie Wischmeyer (fiancé, Josh Chindlund), of Rembrandt, Iowa; her father and stepmother, Rod and LaVonne Kleaveland, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; her grandson, Lukas Chindlund, of Rembrandt, Iowa; her brother, David (Kathy) Kleaveland, of Pierre, South Dakota; and her dog, Tootsie; as well as extended family members and many friends.

Deb was preceded in death by her mother, Lydia; and her parents-in-law, Dale and Ruth Wischmeyer.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. Burial will take place in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will be Friday, March 13, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
