Maxine Christina Miller
January 6, 1921 - March 7, 2015Maxine Miller, age 94, of Spencer, Iowa, formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at St. Luke’s Nursing Home in Spencer, Iowa.
Maxine Christina Hansen, a daughter of Hans and Agnes (Fjordback) Hansen, was born on January 6, 1921, at Alta, Iowa. As a youth, she lived in the Alta area and attended both grade school and high school at Fairview School in rural Alta.
On December 15, 1940, Maxine married Kenneth Miller. Subsequently, they were blessed with three children: Shirley, Karen, and Bruce. Dairy farmers, Maxine and Kenneth had a farm near Storm Lake for many years before they retired and moved into Storm Lake. Maxine was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Storm Lake.
A loving wife and devoted mother, Maxine kept a warm and comfortable home for her family, a home where guests were always welcome. She, also, worked at the Luggage and Gift Shop (later Pickett’s) in Storm Lake. She enjoyed cooking for her family as well as sewing and bowling. In her later years, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Indeed, she treasured the time she spent with them and will be dearly missed by all those who loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Shirley (Aubrey) McCormack, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Karen Eickhoff, of Spencer, Iowa; her son, Bruce (Sandra) Miller, of Marion, Iowa; her sister, Joyce Ericksen; her grandchildren: Kyle Miller, Kelly (John) Limbach, Shannon (Steve) Roberts, Annette (Roger) Riley, Doug (Deon) Eickhoff, and Brent (Jodie) Miller; her great-grandchildren: Austin Eickhoff, Jessica Larsen; Chloe Limbach; Amber (Joe) Otto; Amanda and Scott Riley; Jivan and Sierra Lynn Roberts; Lawson, Logan, and Luke Rutledge; Lakyn Spears; Jalen Thompkins; and Amber Wittrock; and her great-great grandchildren, Bentlee and Lilliana Spears; as well as extended family members and many friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents, Hans and Agnes Hansen; her sister, Loretta Smith; her brother, Russell Hansen; her son-in-law, Steve Eickhoff; and her grandson, Craig Eickhoff.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
