Lois A. Haroldson
May 10, 1927 - February 22, 2015

Lois A. Haroldson, age 87, of Carter Lake, Iowa, and formerly of Linn Grove, Iowa, died on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at the Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Lois A. Rehmke, a daughter of Herman and Clara (Koepke) Rehmke, was born in Schleswig, Iowa, on May 10, 1927. She graduated from Rembrandt High School.

Lois married Paul Haroldson. They, subsequently, welcomed two children into their family: Mark and Lora. Lois and Paul spent their married lives in the Linn Grove vicinity where they farmed. Lois played many roles throughout her life including farm wife, mother, grandmother, cook, caretaker, and best friend and confidant. She, always, put others first in her life, kith and kin alike; she cared about them all. Moreover, she, always, gave her best to her children and grandchildren. As they were growing up, she would always say, “Say what you mean and mean what you say.”

Lois loved all types of critters, especially the wild birds, squirrels, ducks, and geese that visited her current home in Carter Lake. Of all her activities, she enjoyed gardening the most because it took her back to her life on the farm. She liked the smell of a freshly mowed lawn and the sight growing green plants and flowers of all colors and types.

Lois is lovingly remembered by her family which includes her son, Mark Haroldson, of Royal, Iowa; her daughter, Lora Haroldson, of Carter Lake, Iowa; and four grandchildren: LeAnn Najera and Melissa, Michelle, and Michael Haroldson, all of Royal, Iowa; as well as fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; and her siblings: Florence Nedved; LeNora, Leroy, and Lowell Rehmke; and Phyllis Wood.

She will be deeply missed by her entire family and many friends. Rest in peace, Mom.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. Burial will follow in the Little Sioux Valley Lutheran Cemetery in rural, Rembrandt, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
