April 3, 1951 - February 27, 2015Linda R. Fischer, age 63, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died on Friday, February 27, 2015, at the Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids.
Linda Renee Fischer, a daughter of Rahland and Betty (Hopkins) Fischer, was born in Primghar, Iowa, on April 3, 1951. She lived her youth in Calumet and graduated from Sutherland High School in 1970. Then, she moved to Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon, Iowa, becoming one of its first residents. There, she worked with the wheelchair division of the Village and participated in the Special Olympics. After moving to Spectra in Storm Lake, she worked at Genesis.
On November 30, 2004, Linda made her home at the Sioux Care Center. She loved all types of music and had a special love for Elvis Presley and his music. In addition, she had a great love for all people and for life itself. Her own family as well as her Sioux Care Center family held a very special place in her heart. Her favorite activities included collecting jewelry and trinkets, shopping, playing bingo, and assisting the employees at the Sioux Care Center.
Her life is lovingly remembered by her family which includes her brother, Eugene (Bonnie) Fischer, of Cherokee, Iowa; her sister, Janet Johnson, of Spencer, Iowa; and her nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews as well as the friends she made throughout her life. Linda was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. Burial will follow at a later date. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
