Jane E. Rasmussen
August 8, 1921 - February 21, 2015

Jane E. Rasmussen, age 93, of Storm Lake, Iowa, formerly of Nemaha, Iowa, died on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Jane Elizabeth Sutton, a daughter of Hollie and Viva (Oder) Sutton, was born on August 8, 1921, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Baptized into the Christian faith in 1921, she attended Hayes Country School. She, then, went on to obtain her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. She began her teaching career in Truesdale, Iowa.

On July 28, 1956, Jane married Harry E. Rasmussen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together, they raised four children: Randall, C. Diane, Ann, and Kathleen “Kit.”

An active member of the United Methodist Women in Nemaha, Jane had a strong faith in God. In addition, she belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution of Storm Lake.

In her spare time, Jane enjoyed gardening, bird watching, traveling, tole painting, golfing, collecting antiques, and acquiring shoes. An animal lover, she was truly a “Mother Theresa” of all animals. She, also, enjoyed going for rides in her Jeep. Most of all, however, she loved spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Randall Rasmussen, of Sac City, Iowa, C. Diane (Loyd) Koch, of Rockford, Illinois, Ann (Dave) Kolodziej, of Denver, Colorado, and Kit (Marvin) Munden, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her grandchildren: Megan (Brian) Huels, of Rockford, Illinois, Dustin Koch, of Rockford, Illinois, Kristine and Tyler Munden, both of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Alexandra Miller, of Denver, Colorado; and her great-grandchildren: Ellison and Avery Huels; as well as extended family members and friends.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry Rasmussen; her sisters: Iris (Bill) Oatman, Evelyn (Jerry) Sullivan, Virginia (Richard) Buck, and Bea (Robert) Kolb.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, February 26, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Nemaha. Burial will be at a later date in the Newell Cemetery in Newell, Iowa. Visitation will take place Wednesday, February 25, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the TLC Canine Center (Box 373, Newell, Iowa 50568). The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
