June A. Salton, age 81, of Alta, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community of Storm Lake.
June Ann Salton was born on June 7, 1933, to Marion Fonso and Anna (Whiteneck) Milton in Storm Lake. She graduated from Storm Lake High School.
On December 14, 1954, June married Robert Phares Clark. To their union, one daughter and four sons were born. After Robert’s death in November 1973, June married Harold A. Salton in August 1976.
A homemaker and an excellent cook and baker, June lived for her family. She loved getting together with her children and grandchildren each summer and during the holidays. Willing to help others, she always put other people first and volunteered to help with many community projects including the Hospital Auxiliary and Hospice at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center. In addition, she served as an Election Official, a member of the Alta Library board, and a Cub Scout leader. An active member of the Alta Country Club, she enjoyed her time there as she enjoyed participating in her bridge club. Lastly, she belonged to the Order of the Easter Star and the Trinity Lutheran Church of Alta.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her son, Todd Mitchell Clark; her daughter, Cindy Jo Clark; three sisters; and four brothers.
June is survived by three sons, Mark (Carolyn) Clark, of Pine City, Minnesota, Troy Clark, of Alta, Iowa, and Kyle Clark, of Waterloo, Iowa; as well as seven grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015, at 1:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Alta with the Rev. Jane B. Johnston officiating. There will be no burial. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
