Veronica Wiggins, age 88, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Friday, November 14, 2014, at the Newell Good Samaritan Center in Newell, Iowa.

The youngest of eleven children, Veronica Elizabeth Redder was born on March 22, 1926, in Ellsworth, Minnesota, to Joseph and Anna (Reinert) Redder. She attended St. Mary’s School in Ellsworth and graduated from high school in 1944. She, then, went on to enroll at the McKennan Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she graduated in 1947 with a degree in nursing.

On January 17, 1948, Veronica married Joseph Wiggins in Luverne, Minnesota. After living in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Linn Grove, Iowa, they settled on a farm north of Storm Lake. To their union, five children were born. Veronica’s nursing experiences included positions at the Buena Vista County Hospital, the Methodist Manor, and Buena Vista Manor as well as private nursing assignments for several area residents. She, also, worked in the cafeteria at Buena Vista University for a time. She enjoyed reading, gardening, quilting, and visiting her children and grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Joyce) Wiggins, of Hawarden, Iowa; and her daughters: Patricia (Thom) Feally, of Coral Springs, Florida, Ann (Todd) Jamieson, of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Teresa (John) Guthmann, of St. Paul, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 2010; her daughter, Susan, in 1967; her grandson, Peter, in 1988; her parents; and all her brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 17, 2014, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. The family will be present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Newell Good Samaritan Center or St. Mary's Catholic School. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
