Elaine M. Spooner, age 71, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died on Sunday, August 3, 2014, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center at Storm Lake, Iowa.

Elaine Marie Beckfield, a daughter of Otto and Mary (Lange) Beckfield, was born in Storm Lake, Iowa, on August 19, 1942. Baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake, she lived her youth in the Laurens and Albert City vicinities, graduating from Albert City High School.

Elaine’s family and friends were the focus of her life, and she enjoyed communicating with all of them through the telephone, the computer, and family reunions. She loved her grandchildren very much and enjoyed making quilts for them which they treasure.

Elaine is lovingly remembered by her family which includes her husband, Gary, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; two sons: Daniel (Mary), of Gilbert, Arizona, and Jeffrey, of Mesa, Arizona; four grandchildren: Jennifer, Jaimie, Jason, and Chelsey; four great grandchildren: Kara, Jessica, Rilyn, and Zachary; one sister, Donna Johnson, of Storm Lake, Iowa; and one brother, Marlin Beckfield of Des Moines, Iowa; as well as nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Dorene Rhoades.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
