Evelyn M. Ellwanger, age 89, of Sac City, Iowa, died on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Loring Hospital in Sac City.
Evelyn Marie Shipley was born on June 1, 1924, in Pocahontas, Iowa, a daughter of James and Leone (Spencer) Shipley. Growing up on a farm between Newell and Fonda, Iowa, she attended school in Newell. She graduated from Newell High School in 1944.
On September 26, 1945, Evelyn married Clayton Kenneth Ellwanger in Reno, Nevada. They were, subsequently, blessed with three children: Dennis Kenneth, David Lee, and Dwight Douglas.
Evelyn spent her life as a homemaker, helping out in every way she could whether raising their children or working on the farm.
A faithful member of Faith Bible Christian Outreach Center, Evelyn enjoyed the years she spent there as well as the many friends she made.
A stylish woman, Evelyn loved wearing her jewelry, especially while playing the slots at the casino. She also enjoyed dancing, playing cards, gardening, and fishing.
Most of all, Evelyn treasured her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Dennis (Jean) Ellwanger and Dwight Ellwanger, all of Sac City, Iowa; and her grandchildren: Nicole Brown, of Frisco, Texas, and Jonathan Ellwanger, of Sioux City, Iowa; her brothers: James Shipley, of St. Paul, Minnesota, Arlo Paeper, of Omaha, Nebraska, and Darwin (Bev) Paeper, of Cherokee, Iowa; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton; her parents; her step-parents; and an infant son, David.
Visitation: 4:00-7:00 p.m., May 04, 2014, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., May 05, 2014, at the Faith Bible Christian Outreach Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.
