Darlene Anna (Perrin) Carbaugh, age 87, of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Born on August 24, 1926, the first child of John Howard and Grace Anna (Hall) Perrin, Darlene grew up on a farm near Moorhead, Iowa. After graduating from Castana High School, she attended Buena Vista College. She taught in a country school near Moorhead and in Castana. For three years, she taught school in Sioux Rapids. On June 25, 1950, she married Alfred Carbaugh. They made their home in Storm Lake, Iowa, where they were blessed with two sons, Ivan and John Carbaugh.

Darlene loved family gatherings when they came together to celebrate any occasion or just to play cards. Very artistic, she was known for her elaborately decorated cakes and creative craft items. She also enjoyed her garden and flowers. Moreover, she and Alf enjoyed traveling. They went to Washington State, Oklahoma, and Colorado. She also was an avid greeting card sender. At times spunky, she always had a joyful laugh.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her dear husband of sixty-two years, Alf, who passed away on February 16, 2013; her sister, Lila Perrin; her brother-in- law, Dwight Archer; her great-great nephew, Jacob Bull; and her parents-in-law, John and Anna Carbaugh. She is survived by her sisters, Beula (Creighton) Millard and Vida (Jerry) Clark; her sons, Ivan Carbaugh, of Del City, Oklahoma, and John Carbaugh, of Storm Lake; her granddaughters, Janine (Scott) Reynolds, of Altus, Oklahoma, and Katelyn and Kristine Carbaugh, of Storm Lake; her great grandchildren, Kristal, Sean, and Andrea Reynolds, of Oklahoma; and her nieces and nephews: Darrel (Ginger) Millard, Carolyn Millard, Beverly (Leonard) Morgan, Joyce (Rodney) Storm, Nancy (Roger) Anderson, Donnie (Lori) Archer, Betty (Michael) Evers, Janette (Larry) Richardson, Helen (Michael) Carrit, and Kathy (Melvin) Martin; as well as by many great nieces, great nephews, and friends.

Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m., May 21, 2014, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., May 22, 2014, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Interment: May 22, 2014, at Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake, Iowa.
