Kay M. Morse, age 90, of Linn Grove, Iowa, died on Friday, November 1, 2013, at the Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids, Iowa.

Kay Marie Decker, the daughter of Ben and Anna (Joachims) Decker was born in Pocahontas, Iowa, on December 16, 1922. She lived her youth in the Rembrandt and Linn Grove and received her education there.

Kay married first Paul Truesdell. They were blessed with one son, Larry. On June 3, 1978, she married Herschel Morse at the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove. They, subsequently, settled and spent their married life in that community. Throughout her life, Kay was employed in various capacities including working at the J. C. Penney’s store in Spencer and at a grocery store in Sioux Rapids. In 1963, she enrolled at a beauty college to become a licensed beautician. She would eventually own and operate beauty shops in Sioux Rapids, Linn Grove, and Spencer.

A member of the Riverside Evangelical Free Church of Linn Grove and the American Legion Auxiliary, Kay had many additional interests that included collecting lighted ceramic houses, bird watching, crocheting, fishing, listening to music, and playing games.

Kay’s life is celebrated and cherished by her husband, Herschel, of Linn Grove, Iowa; two step daughters: Shirley (Joe) Dodd and Kathy Chindlund, all of Cherokee, Iowa; eight step-grandchildren, ten step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Dorothy Camp, of Linn Grove, Iowa, and Betty Nelson, of Ida Grove, Iowa; as well as by other extended family members and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her three husbands, her son, Larry; four brothers: Wayne, Bernard, Herman, and George; and two sisters, Wanda Boothby and Thurma Farris.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at the Riverside Evangelical Free Church in Linn Grove. Burial will be in the Barnes Township Cemetery in Linn Grove. Visitation will take place on Monday, November 4, 2013, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids with the family present the entire time. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
