Lincoln "Linc" Dandy, age 92, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died on June 17, 2013, at the Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids.

Abraham Lincoln Dandy, the son of William and Lydia (Brown) Dandy, was born in Schaller, Iowa, on February 3, 1921. Baptized on June 24, 1921, in Schaller, Iowa, and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 10, 1938, at Royal, Iowa, Linc lived his youth in the Sioux Rapids vicinity. He was a member of the last graduating class of the Cornell High School.

Linc honorably served his country in the United States Navy from August 12, 1942, until his honorable discharge on October 5, 1945. On August 13, 1946, he married Gloria Stark at Jackson, Minnesota. They were blessed with four children: Linda, Allan, Todd, and Gregg. Employed at the Hy-Grade Plant in Storm Lake for thirty-four years, Linc, however, lived with his wife and family in Sioux Rapids.

He was a devoted member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Sioux Rapids and also of the VFW. His family and friends will remember him as an avid fisherman. He loved gardening, listening to music, and singing. An enthusiastic Iowa Hawkeye fan, he also enjoyed watching football and basketball on television. He and his family enjoyed many summer vacations at Camp Okoboji in the Iowa Great Lakes area.

Linc’s life will always be honored and cherished by his family which includes his wife, Gloria, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; his children: Linda (Jack) Martinson, of Vermillion, South Dakota, Allan Dandy and Jackie Haaland, of Greenville, Iowa, Todd (Tina) Dandy, of Avondale, Arizona, and Gregg (Deanna) Dandy, of Mesa, Arizona; his grandchildren: Eric and Scott Martinson; Kohlene Lausen; and Flint, Ryan, and Tyler Dandy; nine great grandchildren; and his sister, Edna, of Wisconsin; as well as nieces; nephews; other extended family members; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary; and his brothers: Floyd, Wilbur, William, Edgar, Morris, George, and Aubrey.

Funeral services for Lincoln Dandy will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 20, 2013, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
