Muriel "Mickey" Bell, age 91, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Muriel Clarice Mouw was born on September 19, 1921, in Sioux Center, Iowa, the daughter of Peter B. and Florence (Balkema) Mouw.
Growing up, Mickey attended school in Sioux Center. After graduating from Sioux Center High School, she attended Central College in Pella, Iowa, completing a Bachelor’s Degree in 1942.
In 1943, Mickey married W. Glen Bell in Farragut, Idaho. They were, subsequently, blessed with five children: Cheryl, Roger, Janice, Vickie, and Michael.
An active, faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Mickey enjoyed participating in the United Methodist Women and singing in the choir. She, also, belonged to the Buena Vista Hospital Auxiliary and the Cosmopolitan Club.
In her spare time, Mickey loved sewing, crocheting, and baking. She, also, enjoyed doing all types of puzzles. In addition, she had a passion for music. Above all, however, she valued her family enjoyed the time she was able to spend with them. Keeping up with the times, she even used Facebook to stay in touch with them. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Cheryl (Ed) Delp, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Roger (Lillian) Bell, of Florence, Kentucky, Janice (Dennis) Hoyt, of Culbertson, Nebraska, Vickie (Jim) Schmitz, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Michael Glen Bell, of Indianapolis, Indiana; her grandchildren: Lynn (Al) Wiltse; Deborah (Randy Wright) and Troy (Kathy) Delp; Kris (Brett Sullivan), Jenny (Val Pakis), and Matt (Nadine) Bell; Nathan (Trina), Andre (Rebecca), Jeremy (Danae), and Logan Hoyt; and Jay (Kelsey), Dallas (Jamie), and Anne Schmitz; her great grandchildren: Travis, Jace, and Bryce Wright; Ashley, Heidi, and Matt Hammen; Taryn and Alyson Delp; Owen and Jonah Sullivan; Sebastian Pakis; Vivian, Liam, and Elaina Bell; Morgan, Brooke, Allison, Alyssa, Joslyn, Maranatha, Maizie, Jeron Hoyt; and Joel, Stella, and Olivia Schmitz; her brother, Vernon Mouw, of Sioux Center, Iowa; and her sister, Eva Mouw, of Lemars, Iowa; as well as extended family and many friends.
Mickey was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Florence Mouw; and her husband, W. Glen Bell, in 2006,.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., June 22, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
