April 16, 1962 - March 2, 2013

Rex Ingalls, age 50, of Marathon, Iowa, died on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Pleasant View Home in Albert City, Iowa.

Rex Allen Ingalls, the son of George and Barbara (Poffenholz) Ingalls, was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on April 16, 1962. At an early age, he moved with his family to Humboldt, Iowa, where he lived his youth and received his education. A graduate of the Humboldt High School, he worked as a handyman and car mechanic in Sioux Rapids following his formal education.

Rex married Deanna (Woodford) Jackson on July 26, 1986, at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Following their marriage, he worked for eight years as a welder at Gold Star Manufacturing in Laurens, Iowa. For the past nineteen years before his health failed, he worked at Bobalee in Laurens, first as a certified welder and then later advancing to become a robot programmer. A very valuable asset to the company, he had a gifted ability to design and make various tools helpful to the business.

A member of the Marathon United Methodist Church, Rex served with the Marathon Volunteer Fire Department. He especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and golfing along with riding snowmobiles and motorcycles. He will be remembered for constructing his own “trike” which he enjoyed riding.

Rex’s life will also be celebrated and cherished by his wife, Deanna, of Marathon, Iowa; his step-son, Christopher Glade Jackson, Sr., and his wife, Dana, also of Marathon, Iowa; his grandson, Christopher Glade Jackson, Jr.; his brother, Buck Ingalls, and his wife, Judy, of Albert City, Iowa; and his sister, Cindy Spooner, of Spencer, Iowa; as well as other extended family members and his many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the United Methodist Church in Marathon. Burial will be in the Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, March 4, 2013, at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City with the family present to greet friends. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
