Howard Henson, age 77, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at his home in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Howard R. Henson, a son of Gale and Helen (Wright) Henson, was born on April 9, 1942, in Lake View, Iowa. Growing up, Howard attended school in Sac City and graduated from Sac City High School. On August 14, 1960, he married Rosemary Smith at the Alta Methodist Church. Subsequently, they were blessed with five children: Joanne, Beverly, Kathleen, David, and Dwaine. In addition, he loved his two dogs, Willie and Sonny, as if they were his children. In his free time, Howard enjoyed fishing, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, and woodworking. Above all, however, he loved spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Rosemary Henson, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his children: Joanne (Kevin) Koth, of Le Mars, Iowa, Beverly Henson, of Storm Lake, Iowa, Kathleen (fiancé, Travis Johnson) Schiltz, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, David (Lexi) Henson, of Cherokee, Iowa, and Dwaine Henson, of Spencer, Iowa; his brothers, Marlin (Bonnie) Henson and Daryl (Linda) Henson; his sisters, Barbara (Waldo) Christianson and Janet Niles; his grandchildren: Kayla, of Toddville, Iowa, Kyle (Amy), of Alta, Iowa, Matt (Ashley), of Cherokee, Iowa, Brady (Kristine), of Early, Iowa, Blake, of Early, Iowa, Dustin (Ashley), of Jefferson, Iowa, Tanner, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Carissa of Charles City, Virginia, Hanna (Garth), of Johnston, Iowa, Jayda (Kyle), of Livermore, Iowa, and Weston, of Spencer, Iowa; and his great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Audrey, Payton, Harpper, Hayden, Layla, Presley, Ethan, Cameron, Nolan, Jade, Jace, Josi, Brooke, Preston, Evelyn, Gianna, and Harlow; as well as extended family members and friends. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Gale and Helen Henson; two brothers, LaVern and Don Henson; a sister, Lola Paeper; a grandson, Zachary; and a great-granddaughter, Natalie.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 9, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
