Susan Ferrin
October 4, 1947 - June 19, 2019Susan Ferrin, age 71, of Storm Lake, Iowa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 19, 2019. Sue had a difficult multiple-vessel heart bypass in October 2014 and suffered a heart attack on Wednesday that took her life.
Susan Marie Demers was born on October 4th, 1947, to William and Mildred Demers in Storm Lake, Iowa. A longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, she confessed her faith in Jesus Christ at Immanuel Reformed Church in rural Schaller, Iowa. She graduated from high school at Galva Community Schools in 1965.
Next, Susan worked for the Southern Bell Telephone company in Omaha and Columbus, Georgia, before returning to Storm Lake. Later, she moved to Mitchell, South Dakota, where she married Chuck Ferrin. Their union was blessed with one son, Adam Ferrin.
After returning to Storm Lake, she served as a nurse’s aide at the BV Manor and for many years as a home health care provider. Sue had a caring heart and loved taking care of others. Her compassion and kindness left a lasting impression on those she cared for and their families. She, also, loved caring for her grandchildren, Ardis, Thomas, and Alexis.
For the past nine years, she lived at the Lakeview Manor Apartments and will be missed by her many friends there. Always ready to give a kind word of encouragement, she spent many hours enjoying games and reading books after retiring because of problems with her back.
Susan is survived by her son, Adam Ferrin; his wife, Addie; and her grandchildren: Ardis, Thomas, and Alexis; her sister, Sandra Demers, of Marshalltown, Iowa; her brothers and their wives, Scott and Sandy Demers, of Lakeside, Iowa, and Steven and Kathy Demers, of Allendale, Michigan; and her aunt, Marlys Demers, of Lake View; as well as by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her gentle spirit and kind heart. May God bless her memory!
