Joy Huegerich
October 20, 1942 - April 13, 2019Joy Huegerich, age 76, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Varina, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center after a long battle with cancer.
Joyie (Birt) Huegerich, a daughter of Bernard Birt and Ramona Monselle, was born on October 20, 1942, at Bagley, Minnesota. In 1961, she graduated from Ruthven High School. On October 26, 1963, she married Ron Huegerich in Varina.
A farmer’s wife and a mother of five, Joy worked at the Fonda and Newell nursing homes as a cook and dietary supervisor. A loving and caring mother devoted to her faith and family, she made their welfare her highest priority.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters: Lisa Meyer, of Albert City, Iowa, and Lori Huegerich, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; her sons: Mike Huegerich, of Marathon, Iowa, Jim (Val) Huegerich, of Laramie, Wyoming, and Tom (Laurie) Huegerich, of Boise, Idaho; her grandchildren: Shelby Bedford; Amanda Crouse; Jeremy (Katie) and Kayla Farrell; Carson, Jaymie, and Kailey Huegerich; and Lindsey and Meghan Joy Ricklefs; and her great-grandchildren: Madison and Weston Crouse; Ava and Jaxon Farrell; and Aubrie Huebner; and her brother, Bob Birt, of Ruthven, Iowa. Joy was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry; her father, Bernard; her husband, Ronald; and her mother, Ramona.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Varina. Burial will follow in the St. Columbkille Catholic Cemetery in Varina. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 6:45 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m., all at the CHURCH. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is overseeing the arrangements.
