Floyd Eugene Westbay
June 3, 1938 - November 19, 2018

Floyd Westbay, age 80, of Newell, Iowa, died on Monday, November 19, 2018, at the Pomeroy Care Center in Pomeroy, Iowa.

Gene was born on June 3, 1938, in Lamar, Missouri, to Floyd and Mabel (McRae) Westbay. Baptized as an infant and later confirmed, he attended school in Rockwell City, Iowa, graduating from Rockwell City High School in 1957. On March 5, 1996, married Mary Marlatt Rogness in Newell at their home although he belonged to the Nain Lutheran Church in Newell.

In his spare time, Gene enjoyed traveling down to Missouri. In addition, he loved farming. Most of all, however, he treasured spending time with his family and will be, deeply, missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Mary Westbay, of Newell, Iowa; his children: Jerilynn (Roy) Bales, of Early, Iowa, Timothy (Tina) Westbay, of Cherokee, Iowa, Amy (Curt) Timmer, of Schaller, Iowa, Toni Westbay of Early, Iowa, and Shana (Don) Grause, of Pomeroy, Iowa; his grandchildren: Samantha Timmer, of Schaller, Iowa, Matthew Timmer, of Schaller, Iowa, Amanda Hughes, of Rockwell City, Iowa, Logan Neiberger, of Lake City, Iowa, Keeli (Drake) Larsen, of Battle Creek, Iowa, Zachary Burns, of Pomeroy, Iowa, Trenton DeMey, of Pomeroy, Iowa, and Hailea Grause, of Pomeroy, Iowa; his great grandchildren: Alainna Basey, Kyler Larsen, and Kyle Evers; his sisters: Jewell Ann Westbay, of Rockwell City, Iowa, and Linda (Jerry) Mosher, of Rockwell City, Iowa; his sisters-in-law: Carol (Marlowe) Timmer, Roberta (Paul) Lightfoot, and Valerie Deal; and his brothers-in-law: Murray (Lamoon) Marlatt and Terry (Lynn) Marlatt; as well as extended family members and friends.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd and Mabel Westbay; his grandparents, Jim and Ruby Westbay; his parents-in-law: John and Pearl Marlatt; and his brother-in-law, Michael Deal.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the Nain Lutheran Church in Newell. Burial will follow in the Newell Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, November 23, 2018, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in STORM LAKE. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
