Clifford John Glasgow, 92, of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Born on September 22, 1926, in Keokuk, Iowa, he was a son of Foley Robert and Josephine May Cochnour Glasgow. On October 5, 1957, he married Janet Jean Hendricks in Des Moines.

Clifford graduated from Selma Consolidated High School and Parson’s College in Fairfield. During World War II, he proudly served as a US Army Supply Sergeant in Saipan and Guam. Self-employed in the construction trade after the war, he sided many houses and businesses throughout the Midwest.

In high school, he drove a horse drawn carriage “school bus” route on the dirt roads along the Des Moines river. He played baseball for Parson’s College, coached his sons’ baseball teams, and was president of the Greater Des Moines Soap Box Derby for many years. He traveled around the US with the Derby team, winning a number of regional and national titles.

A member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Clifford served on the Church Properties committee. For many years, he played an active role in the Buena Vista County Historical Society as well.

Surviving Clifford are his beloved wife, Janet, and their five children: Robert (Julene), Michael (Angela), Janelle (Rod) Riche, Debbie Brown, and Mark; ten grandchildren: April Brown; Shonda Geissinger; Holly, Jack, Nicole, Sadie, Samuel, Sarah, Shenoa, and Sydney Glasgow; three great grandchildren; and his brother, Thomas, of Ft. Madison.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Vera Van Zante, Ralph, and Carol Richards.
