Kerry Ezell Carothers, age 60, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Monday, September 24, 2018, at Fonda Specialty Care in Fonda, Iowa.

Kerry, a son of Stanley and Mary (Gater) Carothers, was born on October 19, 1957, in Water Valley, Mississippi. In his youth, he moved with his family to Chicago, Illinois. Following in his father’s footsteps in the restaurant business, he worked at Binyons and later at his father’s restaurant, Stanley’s Place. From his father, he learned all facets of the restaurant business and eventually became a chef. In 2006, he moved to Storm Lake and worked at Tyson’s until an automobile accident ended his working days.

In his free time, Kerry enjoyed fishing and watching football. An impressive artist, as well, he had a talent for drawing and writing.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Mary Carothers, of Storm Lake, Iowa; his daughter, Shelley “Baby Doll” Carter, of Chicago, Illinois; and his brothers, Stanley, Jr., and Rod, both of Storm Lake, Iowa; and his sister, Carolyn “C.C.” Carothers, of Des Moines, Iowa, as well as his nieces, nephews, and great nieces.
