John M. Skibsted
December 11, 1951 - August 15, 2018

John M. Skibsted died on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born on December 11, 1951, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Thornton and Orlean Bruns Skibsted.

On March 14, 1998, he married Karen Sachs. Mr. Skibsted graduated from Iowa State University with a business and accounting degree. Employed with Lafarge-Holcim as a Comptroller, he farmed as well. In addition, he enjoyed golfing and following the St. Louis Cardinals. He was of the Lutheran faith.

Survivors include his wife, Karen, at home; two daughters, Jamie Herrera, and her husband, Norman, of Oklahoma City, and Heather Reed, and her husband, Tyler, of Ada, Oklahoma; a son, Andy Kimbrell, and his wife, Marla, also of Ada, Oklahoma; two brothers, Dave Skibsted, and his wife, Connie, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Larry Skibsted, of Smithville, Missouri; a sister, Jackie McWhirter, and her husband, Dennis, of Marquand, Missouri; his grandchildren, Chelsey Temple, and her husband, Ryan, and her daughter, Katie, of Ada, Oklahoma, Drew Waterman, of Owasso, Oklahoma, Racen and Riley Reed, of Ada, Oklahoma, and Morgan, Jaden, and Dakota Lankford, also of Ada, Oklahoma; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services for Mr. Skibsted, 66, of Ada, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Vicar Jason Steffenson officiating. Burial will follow at Swan Hill Cemetery. Keith Buelow, Dan Zimmerman, Eddie Starks, Rama Kaliappen, Alex Wilson, and Tyler Reed will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Criswell Funeral Home.
