Arnold "Arnie" E. Treinen, age 90, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Friday, May 25, 2018, at Fonda Specialty Care in Fonda, Iowa.

Arnold Edmond Treinen, a son of Albert and Margaret (Deitrich) Treinen, was born at Remsen, Iowa, on December 17, 1927. He lived his youth in Sioux Rapids and graduated from Sioux Rapids High School in 1947. During the Korean War, he, faithfully, served his country as a corporal in the United States Army from September 17, 1950, until his honorable discharge on November 8, 1951.

On May 16, 1953, Arnie married Lois Ann Brummer at St. John’s Lutheran parsonage in Storm Lake, Iowa. Subsequently, they were blessed with one son, Mark. Arnie and Lois spent their married life in Storm Lake where he worked as a carpenter for Paul Parks Construction and for McHan Construction in Sioux City. Iowa. He attended services St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. His special interests included tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. In addition, he took great pride in his roses.

Arnie’s life is honored and cherished by his family which includes his son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Julie Treinen, of Albert City, Iowa; as well as his nieces, nephews, extended family members and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, on August 13, 2017; his parents; a sister, Helen; and his brothers, James, Bernard, and Joseph.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
