Denine Marie Garton
March 15, 1965 ~ December 2, 2017 (age 52)Denine Marie Garton, age 52, of Marathon, Iowa, died on December 2, 2017, at the Pleasant View Home in Albert City, Iowa.
Denine Marie Crosgrove, a daughter of Ray and Maureen (Zortman) Crosgrove, was born on March 15, 1965, in Dell Rapids, South Dakota. Growing up, she attended Laurens Marathon Community Schools where she graduated in 1983. On October 30, 1983, she married Jimmy Garton in Laurens. Subsequetly, they were blessed with three children: Jason, Matthew, and Ashley. For about twenty years, she worked as the City Clerk in Marathon.
In her spare time, Denine enjoyed playing the piano and cooking, an activity she did extremely well. Moreover, she valued the members of her family, especially her grandchildren, and she treasured the time she was able to spend with them. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jimmy Garton, of Marathon, Iowa; her children: Jason (Michelle) Garton, of San Diego, California, Matthew (Diane) Garton, of Lewisville, Texas, and Ashley (Dylan) Leuer, of Laurens, Iowa; her grandchildren: David and Abigail Garton and Raelynn Leuer; her parents, Ray and Maureen Crosgrove, of Marathon, Iowa; and her brothers: Roddy (Nancy) Crosgrove, of Liberty, North Carolina, and Michael (Mary) Crosgrove, of Pocahontas, Iowa; as well as extended family members and many friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Marathon. Burial will follow in the Poland Township Cemetery. Visitation will take place Wednesday, December 6, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.
