Kathy Ann Nichols, age 68, of Alta, Iowa, died on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Kathy Ann Forkenbrock, a daughter of Fred and Betty (Van Rennes) Forkenbrock, was born on May 15, 1949, in Sheldon, Iowa. While growing up, Kathy became a caretaker for her siblings. After graduating from high school, she continued her education at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville where she earned an associate’s degree. On September 1, 1972, she married John Nichols in Storm Lake. For many years, Kathy worked at Genesis Development and cleaned the library in Storm Lake. She enjoyed volunteering at Faith, Hope & Charity in Storm Lake where she loved reading to the kids and spending time with them. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, John Nichols, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her siblings: Rick (Marilyn) Forkenbrock, of Cherokee, Iowa, Randy Forkenbrock, of Sheldon, Iowa, Becky (James) Polmanteer, of Laughlin, Nevada, and Tom Forkenbrock, of Chicago, Illinois; and a sister-in-law, Beth Forkenbrock, of Mesa, Arizona; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Scott Forkenbrock.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, October 26, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Visitation will take place for one hour before the service at the funeral home. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
