Everett W. Glienke, age 87, of Webb, Iowa, died on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

A son of William Herman and Emma (Langner) Glienke, Everett was born on September 1, 1930, in Alta, Iowa. He grew up on a farm north of Storm Lake and graduated from Truesdale High School. After serving in the National Guard, Everett was, honorably, discharged in 1951. He met his future wife at the Cobblestone in Storm Lake. On March 4, 1951, he married Vera Marie Ogden at the Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Bovey, Minnesota. To their union, five children were born. While he worked for Dekalb Seed, they made their home in Storm Lake.

In 1953, the family moved to a farm southwest of Webb where Everett farmed for nine years. Over the years, he worked at various jobs. He delivered Winnebagos and drove truck while making trips to Alaska and New York. He worked at the Kent Feed Service for five years, Spencer Foods for four years, and Eaton Corporation in Spencer for sixteen years. A member Concordia Lutheran Church in Webb, he, also, served as chief of the Webb Fire Department in the 1960s.

In 1998, Everett retired. Then, he had much more time to do some of his favorite activities. He loved taking fishing trips with Tom Gibson, dancing with Vera, golfing, bowling, and gardening. For many years, he and Vera enjoyed life at Lost Island Lake with family and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to talk to anyone and everyone.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Vera Glienke, of Webb, Iowa; his children: Kathy (Kev) Koskovich, of Correctionville, Iowa, Kenny (Penny) Glienke, of Webb, Iowa, Carolyn Gibson, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, Dave (Sue) Glienke, of Greenville, Iowa, and Bill (Merry) Glienke, of Boone, Iowa; his grandchildren: Kristian (Heather) and Nathan (Teresa) Andersen; Lisa (Kevin) Day; Katie and Jodi (Dave Singh) Gibson; Kalvin (Kelli Jo), Waylon, Will, and Weston Glienke; Cheyenne Lax; Kristie Nielsen; and Mary (Will) Smith; his step grandchildren: Holly (Rod) Brown and Russell Koskovich; his great grandchildren: Aleah, Allison, Brady, Camie, Carson, Carter, Colton, Devin, Emma, Justina, Logan, Marshall, Millie, Morgan, Payton, Tatum; and his step great grandchildren: Cheyanne, Haley B., Haley F., and Makenzie.
