Kenne R. Steen, age 72, of Schaller, Iowa, died on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at the Cherokee Specialty Care in Cherokee.

Kenne Steen, a son of Adrian and Aiylene (Baxter) Steen, was born on April 2, 1945, in Ayrshire, Iowa. In his youth, he attended Ayrshire Consolidated School, graduating in 1963. He, then, went on to serve in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. On August 16, 1968, he married Linda Rath. Subsequently, they were blessed with two children, Dawn and Kenne. Later, however, he and Linda divorced.

Kenne worked at Hygrade in Storm Lake before moving to Schaller to work as an electrician- Kenne’s Service. Later, he worked as a rural mail carrier until he retired in 2014.

A friend of Bill W., a member of the Schaller VFW, and of the AMVETS, he liked to play cards and golf in his free time. He also enjoyed taking trips to visit his brother, Bob, and his family in Oregon. He will be, deeply, missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Kenne Steen, of Schaller, Iowa; his brother, Robert (Kathi) Steen, of Sherwood, Oregon; and his grandchildren: Steven (Kayle) Larson, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Brittany (Nick Martin) Larson, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; as well as extended family members and friends. Kenne was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Aiylene; and his daughter, Dawn Larson.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. There will be no burial at this time. Arrangements are with the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake.
