June 25, 1950 - June 9, 2017

Ronald Lee Lubeck, age 66, of Marathon, Iowa, formerly of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 09, 2017, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Ron was born on June 25, 1950, to Wesley and Wanda (O’Toole) Lubeck in Sac City. Baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City, he graduated from Sac City High School with the Class of 1968. Next, he attended Ellsworth College for two years and then Buena Vista College in Storm Lake where he graduated in 1972 with a Business Degree.

In his younger years, Ronnie worked at either Lubeck Brothers “Phillips 66” gas station or as a delivery truck driver for Lubeck Brothers Oil & Propane, a business on the west side of Sac City. Then, he helped Greg Fort as an insurance adjustor for a few years before working at the Hosteng Lumber Yard. Lastly, after moving to Marathon, he worked at the First Marathon Cooperation until he retired in 2011.

Ron loved to joke around and tell stories, or “Ronnieisms” as some may refer to them. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing, and he liked working on old cars. In addition, he loved playing a good game of cards or just hanging out with friends. He will, certainly, be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his daughter, Sara McVay, and her husband, John; his son, Brian “Buck” Lubeck, and his wife, Betsy; his grandchildren, Jackson, Mia, and Scarlett McVay and Briggs and Bennett Lubeck; his sister Vickie Jacobsen, and her husband, Jim; aa well as many friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Wanda Lubeck, and his sister, Marilyn Lubeck.
